The 90s pop sensation seems doomed to be stuck in the era of jean jackets forever
There is no denying it. Ali Haider is cute – in that boyish, you want to pinch his cheeks and tousle his hair sort of way. The decades not made his innocent charm more cynical or edgy which is why his new ‘political’ song Panga comes off as more laughable that laudable.
The whole thing is a painful mash of a low budget 1980s punk video and a college camcorder prank brim full of with flame graphics, carefully selected youthful slang words and Punjabi refrains. Add it all up with our sweet memory of the Purani Jeans guy and the combination is completely cringeworthy.
